Ever play a show and after the show you said to yourself and fellow band mates, wouldn't it be great if we had a recording of it? I am a sound engineer looking for shows to do and record. I studied live sound and recording at the City College of San Francisco over the last year. I have recorded one show for experience purposes and I hope to record more in the future. The first show i did was for Bird and Beckett book store on Chenery in San Francisco. I was asked to record a small jazz show they regularly have there every Friday and Sunday and it turned out pretty good considering what I had to work with. The owner had hung a single microphone in the center on the ceiling trying to capture a stereo signal by running a splitter to 2 channels on his mixer. If it were up to me, I would have used two microphones in stereo one for the left channel and one for the right. Given the limited space being that it's a book store, I had to work with what was there. I can also radio DJ as I have DJ'd for various internet radio stations over the years. Genres I play are: jazz, swing, oldies, 80s, love songs, trance, house, dubstep, pop, party tunes, classic rock, rock n roll, metal, and alternative rock. For a Disney fan, I also have a collection of Disney tunes I can play. I am also a Karaoke DJ for my family parties if they wish to sing karaoke @ family gatherings.

My first show.

Equipment used

Pyle Pro PQA2100 A nice rack power amp. Not a full 2100 watt amp but nice nonetheless. I currently use it to power my passive monitor/main speakers. Has dual Speakon, and TRS.
Specs are as followed:
  • 230 + 230 Watts @ 8 Ohms
  • 460 + 460 Watts @ 4 Ohms
  • 920 + 920 Watts @ 2 Ohms
Seismic Audio SA10M.3 Great speakers for the price. I use mines as monitors but they also double as a mains. This version of the speaker has a hole on the side so you can mount it on a pole if you wish. They come in 10, 12, and 15 inch sizes and I got myself two 10 inch ones. You can either buy them passive or active but I bought the passive ones hense the need for the amp above. The company Seismic Audio also makes cables, snakes, power amps, DJ equipment, racks, and guitar/bass cabinets. I love these speakers.
Seismic Audio SA15MTPW Great active speaker for the price mean an external amp is not needed. It is 15" with 350 watts of power and a 700 watt peak. Plenty of sound for anyone. The company Seismic Audio also makes cables, snakes, power amps, DJ equipment, racks, and guitar/bass cabinets. I love these speakers.
MCM Custom Audio 12'' PA / DJ Speaker Subwoofer 600W Great sub for the price. This guy was only $60 plus tax and shipping. It is 300W RMS and 600W Peak. It is passive not active. It isn't super heavy so easy to move around when doing gigs. It is a bit small if you are doing bigger gigs as the woofer is only 12" but if you need a sub for smaller gigs i would recommend this one. Especially if you are on a budget like i am.
Audio-Technica M4000S 3-Pack Mic and Stand Kit I bought this kit a couple of years ago. They aren't high-end mics and the stands aren't the best but they suit my needs for now. When I need, I will buy more and better mics and stands but I couldn't beat the price for $99 bucks for everything. They are cardiod dynamic mics meaning the pick up pattern is like a heart and they don't need phantom power. They also have an on-off switch which is nice.
CAD CM217 Condenser Mic Bought these a few months ago. I use them as cymbal over heads which is what they are great for. I believe normally these come in the cad drum mic set but they are selling them separately. I would recommend these if you are looking for small condensers.
I also have a couple of lights that spin around if asked to dj parties. Nothing super fancy but it works.
